This quilt began right before I had my second son (April 2015). That’s what quilters do when they are nesting right? — start another quilt.   At least for me, that's what I needed.  I had been eyeing this pattern from Material Obsession 2 by Sarah Fiekle and Kathy Doughty and knew I should start it now, or I never would.

Three years later, I finished piecing ALL the y-seams while I was on retreat with KMQG, Spring of 2017. I’m ecstatic that I saw it through to the end and put my own spin on the pattern. Sometimes (or most of the time) I don’t know who the quilt might be for in the end, but I had a vision of all these beautiful Leah Duncan and Carolyn Friedlander fabrics rolled together in an intricate way.

This block layout is a 3rd option to the 2 patterns available in the book, Erica's Honesty and Jazz Hands. And that's where the title came from.

My brother proposed to his girlfriend and her son in December 2017. And I knew this quilt needed to stay in the family and that she’d love it’s traditional and modern qualities. (She liked it so much, it hung at the wedding in October.)
